The Course:
The pace of AP World History is rapid and expectations for performance are high because students who enroll are choosing to be academically challenged. One objective of the course is to provide a demanding and rewarding course for students with an interest in history and desire to work with other committed students. Another objective is to help students develop skills required to be successful at the college level. The AP Exam given in early May provides an opportunity for students to measure their achievements; therefore, since the course is College Board approved and is designed to prepare students for the exam, students are expected to take the exam. AP students are to be congratulated for taking on this challenge while often being involved in many other activities outside the normal school day, so organization and self-discipline help students maintain the rigorous reading schedule throughout the school year. Successful participation in AP courses requires dedication and support on many fronts. Encouragement from home can truly make a difference. As is often the case, careful planning that promotes quality work is preferable to waiting until the last minute. AP students are amazing and I look forward to the challenges ahead. |
